DetailsDirectly from nature, Blindspot uses real leaves to create the molds for these decorative boxes. The large size is 6" x 9" and about 3" tall including knob, with interior dimensions of 5 3/8" x 8 3/8" x 2". We use them to store cocktail napkins, jewelry. cuff links, odds and ends. The box is made from bamboo and we make the lids in the studio using fiber reinforced gypsum cement. They are finished with natural shellac and metallic pigments. Available in sixteen special patinas. Interested in a color not shown on the list like the beautiful "Purely Blue"? Just contact me with your request, I can probably oblige. We have hundreds of colors. All the items using the Gingko leaf were made from an original 11" x 20" panel that I made for my mother about 20 years ago. I just used the branches from the tree to make impressions, then I cast a panel that had only branches. On this positive I used the actual leaves glued on with some additional trickery and made a mold directly over the leaves. Using this method I was able to get better dimension on the leaves and really show the beautiful veins. The ginkgo leaf symbolizes longevity, resilience, and peace.
